That is really sweet of you. The long story will have to wait until I have a lap top in front of me.
So - installments!

SO had a play date, I was working, weather radios went off with blizzard warnings, the aunties went off as well. They jumped at the office window and were all worked up. Something moved in a clay saucer full of cracked corn for the birds. It could be? It is a cat!!!! I grabbed a bit of kibble (the last since the aunties had been moved to wet). That little thing did not loose a beat but went from corn to kibble. Card board box, towel. It is freezing! I move the food into the box, she follows. No this is not going to work. I got one of the cat carriers, put a coat on, heavy gloves and glasses. This little thing gives me a look and goes into the carrier. Into the garage we go, it is blowing ice needles but I cannot bring the carrier through the house. My office floor heating mat under the carrier, a spot on a work bench with natural light, wet food, water, a quick "you are safe". Now what? I called every shelter, police station, Pet smart, Pet this and that - the best answer I got was "if you cannot bring her in leave her out". So I called SO at the gun range - Houston we have "What". What is what? No idea but What is here to stay. He dropped everything, got kitten food and fell in love. This tiny bundle of half starved fur with whiskers ate and ate and ate.
Monday was a holiday this day three of singsing.
Tuesday I was at the vet at 7:30. Here she is! Nobody wants her. Here is a credit card. What are we supposed to do? I came off the rocker! I am a recruiter and know my business. She needs a vet! Isn't that your business? Who is going to pay for it? We have two cats on file and if this credit card does not cover it - let me know!!! Oh, you want us to check her out? No shoot Sherlock! No vet until 9:00. I had to get to work, called at 9:01, was told to pick her up at lunch. She was barely moving. They prodded, de this and that her, gave her shots, ... .
SO built her a home of two big dog crates connected to each other in his toy room. Floor heating, the works. We did not trust the aunties. Introduction took 60 seconds - here is Izzi, you do not get to eat her! She sleeps in solitary so you cannot harm her.
The official file reads 5 pounds. She fit I to my hand!
More tomorrow.

Introductions done Izzi had the run of the house until bed time. Off to SingSing with floor heat, ferret box as privy (she was to tiny to get into anything else and it was a Chewy's mis-shipment), food water. 5:30 brought canned kitten food and release to the world. ShadowCat had nothing to do with the little whiskered mouse. ChaCha ignored her and acted as if she did not step a paw into SO's room. Izzi in the meantime did all the right things - eat, sleep, poop; rinse and repeat. Most of the day she slept inside the fleece vests I wear around the house. Just a little bump which occasionally move a bit. Then ChaCha got busted. She was in Izzi's cage chomping down kitten kibbles. The aunties were still looking for kibbles but got wet only. That explained why the food was always gone! The end of the safe house and life has not been the same since.
30 day check up went well. That was when we were told there was almost no chance of her making it when she came in originally. Thanks a lot!
She was a very bad eater. Everything distracted her. So tiny portions under supervision. Working from home has fringe benefits:)
I am on the phone and there are sounds which did not fit. Izzi wretching in the hallway. It sonded like her innerds were coming out. Big yellow eyes said 'I did not want to make a mess". It is all ok, cuddles, fresh food. An hour later again. Nothing but foamy clear. I got SO out of a meeting and was on our way to the vet. The usual diagnosis - it could be. ... . Considering her size we started with some homeo products. Something to keep the vomiting down, something, .... Please do not ask me. Two hours later - again! I called and told not asked SO to get his ego to the vet. Izzi was a tiny tired bundle in her carrier. We were waiting. 30 minutes later we heard SO. Upset male in high Western heels on a mission for his tiny thing - tile carries a sound! Izzi perked up. He gave it ten minutes and wrangled the vet. Two shots. for Izzi not the vet. He took her home. I stayed to pay the bill. I come in and she is munching like there is no tomorrow. We turned heli parents for a while.

The inevitable had to be scheduled and me chicken wanted SO to be around when she got fixed. Call it moral support. Second week of January. Great! Christmas Eve we got a very special present - a caroler (spelling) singing just for us. Relentlessly singing the song of her people. After two nights I asked for any available appointment. How does such a tiny body produce such noise? This may explain Tina Turner! All went well until she developed a tiny bump at the incision. By then I was probably known at the vet's as the one who insists. Vet prodded her, cuddled her, gave a a long list of ifs and the bump was gone. She explained to me that her working the area may have caused whatever it was to disintegrate.
One of Izzi's admirers which I described to SO as a big yellow tom was a a bob cat. Girl has taste:)
Fur grew in. Aunties were well aunties.

More tomorrow.
